After school starts up it can be easy to forget the skills you learned and the fun time you had at summer camp. However, if you keep practicing some of the basic camp skills you learned at summer camp throughout the school year, then you will keep your camp memories fresh and be prepared for camp next year.

Below are a few camp activities you should be sure to practice year-round:

1. Friendship Bracelets

If friendship bracelets are popular at your camp, you should continue to practice your braiding skills throughout the year. This will allow you to learn more advanced patterns, like the diamond friendship bracelet, and also allow you to build up a stockpile of friendship bracelets to hand out at camp next summer.

If friendship bracelets are not popular, then consider practicing other arts and crafts you learned. Crafts such as modge podge or wood lashing can be useful for school projects.

2. Singing

One of the most important parts of any summer camp is the campfire. Singing songs at campfire can boost your mood and promote bonding. If you were shy about singing this year, look up some common campfire songs and learn them for next year.

If you already feel comfortable singing, consider picking up an instrument that you can bring with you to campfire, such as the guitar or ukulele.

3. Cooking

Did you cook for the first time at summer camp? Now that you feel confident cooking meals over a fire, you should have no problem exploring the kitchen while you are at home. If you take over cooking one night a week or help a parent with cooking on occasion, you will gain skills to wow your fellow campers during your cook out next year.

4. Outdoor Exploration

From hiking to canoeing, if you picked up an outdoor activity while you were at camp, you should try to continue it throughout the school year. This will keep you in shape for next year and will also help reduce the stress of school work.

Just because camp is over, it doesn't mean you have to leave it behind. Practicing camp activities throughout the year can help you keep the camp spirit alive.
