The Summer Arts Institute is a tuition-free, intensive, arts program for New York City public school students entering grades 8-12, held at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School in Astoria, Queens This summer the program will take place at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School in Astoria, Queens from July 5 through July 29, 2016. Note: The film studio will have two mandatory, full-day Saturday sessions in June prior to the start of SAI, dates to be announced. Admission to the Summer Arts Institute is by application AND audition. Applications must bereceived by Friday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School. Summer Arts Institute is open to all New York City Department of Education public school students entering grades 8 through 12 in the Fall of 2016. Only students currently enrolled or planning to attend a New York City Department of Education public school for the 2016-17 school year may apply. When necessary, public school enrollment will be verified to determine eligibility.

Activities
Students can major in dance, theater, instrumental music (band), vocal music, film, string orchestra or visual arts. The program is designed for students at an intermediate or advanced level of study in their chosen discipline.
