BioMedTrack is a unique year-round Science Camp for elementary & middle school students. At our fun-filled and scientifically vibrant center, students will learn how to: Develop Scientific Questions Carry Out Experiments Collect & Analyze Data Build Leadership and Partnership Skills Write Laboratory Notebooks Draw Conclusions from Data Present Scientific Data Prepare for Scientific Competition such as Science Olympiad Samples of Multidisciplinary Science Program WONDERS OF CHEMISTRY A2-Amazing Acids: Learn to measure pH; Make your own acid/base indicator from red cabbage; Determine the acidity of common household substances and common soft drinks; Analyze Acid/Alkali effect on plants and metals. C2- Chemical Chat: Enjoy the sound of chemical reaction when you add an Alka-Seltzer tablet into a glass of water; Observe and learn how a) temperature, b) particle size and c) concentration regulate the rate of a reaction; Learn why color develops when 2 colorless liquid embrace each other. F2-Find Fingerprint: Learn the science behind finding the fingerprint anywhere and everywhere; become a BioMedTrack Detective to find who enters your classroom and/or works on your bench in your absence. L2-Layering Label: Learn the difference between density & specific gravity; Create a Three Layer Float and know how it works or the science behind Rainbow Layers; Make a lava lamp; Make an egg float and sink at your will. MARVELS OF BIOLOGY B2: Build Brain: Learn brain parts & build a nervous system; Keep track with our internal clock – analyze how the brain maintains Biological Rhythm. C2-Creative Cell: Watch how cells populate their new home and how they move and talk to each other; Separate different parts of the cells and learn their function. G2-Gene and Genetics: Extract DNA with household ingredients; Predict the germline with a Toothpick Fish Experiment. M2-Microscopy Miracle: Become a junior Microscope Forensic Expert! Learn the parts of a microscope and how to use it; Learn to make a slide, wet mount, cover slip and observe slides under a microscope to identify the difference between similar looking samples. CHEMISTRY MEETS PHYSICS H2-Hydro-Hype: Put your water molecules to work: Using hydro power to lift a load or create kinetic energy from chemicals. C2M-Chemistry to Machine: Use different chemicals to make machines prototype via a 3D printer. CHEMICALS CALL BRAIN Chemogenetics: Learn how chemicals interrogate brain behavior. PHYSICS GREETS BIOLOGY Optogenetics: Watch and learn how light (optic) helps to understand brain function.
