Summit volunteers are exceptional leaders in our community that believe in our mission of empowering girls as leaders through mentorship, talent development and advocacy. We are in need of many dynamic volunteers to help make this day of empowerment and leadership development a success. Learn more about our cornerstone event and how to get involved below: ********************************************************************************** When: The summit will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm What: EmpowHERment, Inc. hosts Annual EmpowHERment Teen Summit  Where: Butler High School- 1810 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd, Matthews, NC 28105 Details: 300 girls in grades 6-12 will be inspired, challenged, and empowered to be bold for change. The girls participate in panel discussions, team building activities, and advocacy workshops and more!   Summit Volunteer Training Options:    Thursday, August 22nd, 6 pm - 7 pm  at the Nest at Camp Northend (1776 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206) Saturday, September 7th, 11 am - 12 pm at the  Nest at Camp Northend (1776 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206) *All EmpowHERment Summit Volunteers are required to be registered wtih CMS. Summit registration opens annually during the summer. Registration is open on a first come, first serve basis until we reach our capacity of 300 girls. Girls in grades 6-12 in Charlotte and the surrounding area with a commitment to strenghtening their leadership and advocacy skills can register to attend. Some girls are identified through principal, teacher, youth group and community recommendations, while others self-select through an interest in the program. Diversity of interest and background is embraced. How are volunteers selected? Are they trained? After registering for an orientation session, our Volunteer Coordintor will follow up with volunteers to provide training information and instructions on completing a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools background check. All volunteers must pass the CMS background check and must attend one orientation session to participate in the summit. The following are scheduled volunteer orientation dates:  Thursday, August 22nd, 6 pm - 7 pm  at the Nest at Camp Northend (1776 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206) Saturday, September 7th, 11 am - 12 pm at the  Nest at Camp Northend (1776 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206) What is the attire? Every girl and volunteer will receive an EmpowHERment Summit T-Shirt upon check-in the day of the summit. Casual, comfortable attire is recommended because we will be moving all day long! Can parents participate? Yes, you can sign up as a volunteer and attend the volunteer training. Parents are also invited to browse the community resource fair in the morning during check-in and registration. Can my women's group volunteer? Yes, you can sign up as a volunteer and attend the volunteer training. Inquiries about organizing a volunteer group opportunity can be sent to [email protected]. Will we recieve a reminder about the summit? Yes, you will recieve email reminders about the summit, so please make sure to use your best contact information when you register. We will send out the final event itinerary and include exciting updates & details about the day of the event. What if I have more questions about volunteering? We are a 501(c)(3) organization and your contributions are tax deductible. We are also grateful to accept in-kind contributions.
