Safe Haven Summer Camp

I am pleased to announce our open enrollment for Safe Haven Summer Camp 2019. During the summer months, M.O.M.I.E's knows the critical importance of keeping young minds stimulated and engaged in meaningful activities. Safe Haven Summer Camp seeks to combat summer learning loss and strengthen key social and emotional competencies. Below are the following areas in which we will nurture the genius this summer: Culture-based LearningOur award winning great person curriculum, provides innovative ways to bring history to life through engaging and creative, hands-on activities as students are transported across various cultures and geographic regions. Academic DevelopmentSummer is a critical time to develop academic-readiness and reinforce core academic competencies. Students will engage in daily age-appropriate skills-building lessons to reinforce and bolster academic confidence in the subject areas of literacy and math. Character building and Leadership DevelopmentAs students mature, it is of crucial importance to provide opportunities in which they can explore who they are and who they want to be. Through various activities such as meditation, camp leadership roles, affirmations, reflection activities and more. Students will have the opportunity to discover and cultivate critical character and leadership qualities. Field Trips and Community EnrichmentOver the course of our time together, students will visit various museums, parks, performances, and other interesting cultural spaces in the metropolitan area. Sports and RecreationStudents engage in daily recreational and athletic activities including weekly trips to the pool. DC Residents receiving TANF are eligible to receive a scholarship for 50% - 100% off of summer camp fees. This scholarship is contingent upon the participation in our F.O.C.U.S Family Engagement Program. Parents will be asked to participate in a series of workshops twice a month surrounding various topics including but not limited to Self-Care, Mental Health, Nutrition, Career Readiness and Employability Skills, Continuing education and many other resources.
