Youth Boat Building Camp - Port Aransas, TX

Youth ages 10 to 18 will build an 8-ft long Mouse Boat, a one-person kayak like boat propelled with a two-bladed paddle. The boat weighs less than 40 pounds and is designed to use in protected waters such as lakes, harbors, or canals. The this fun little boat has a carrying capacity of 200 pounds. Cost of the class, including materials plus a simple paddle and paint, is $250. Builders are encouraged to bring a friend or family member to help all or part of the time. Students younger than age 12 must have a parent work with them at all times. At the end of class the student builder will launch their boat in the harbor for a fun little cruise before taking it home.
