Summer Vacation: Makers Camp (7+)

OUR MAKERS CAMPS ARE CREATIVE FUN Engine’s Makers Camp invites curious, aspiring young artists, designers, engineers, and scientists ages 8+ to think, explore, and create outside the box. Our maker education emphasizes the act of hands-on experimentation; thinking, tinkering, learning how and why things work through a series of fun and creative projects that promote innovation and creativity. Engine’s S.T.E.A.M. initiative combines science, technology, engineering, art, and math into one balanced week of activities to inspire a well-rounded maker. Participants will engage in the creative processes to connect STEAM education to community involvement.  During the camp, we will use science and engineering activities to build knowledge and further understanding of spatial, structural and environmental elements inherent in downtown Biddeford. Participants will design meaningful prototypes and artifacts that communicate ideas formulated on different excursions throughout downtown and neighboring areas. INSTRUCTOR Erinn Conn AGES: Our age bracket is a suggested 7+. Some older kids do well with the younger kids and like to assist the instructor with the younger kids. Some younger kids might need to wait a year. We usually address the lower and end on a case-by-case basis.  FULL COST: $225 per full week or $50 per day. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT of 20% off expires June 1. DROP OFF / PICKUP: Drop off is 8:00am-9am and pickup is between 4pm-5pm REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 8 by end of day. If we have room, we'll accept later registrations but we need to order supplies so please try to register by the deadline. SLIDING SCALE is available. All of our youth programs operate on a flexible fee policy called a Sliding Scale so any child can participate. Here's how to use it: Consult the guidelines here to determine what to pay. Use the appropriate PROMO CODE from the bottom of the chart based on your household size/income. Select TICKETS on our Eventbrite page. You'll see an ENTER PROMOTIONAL CODE in the upper right hand corner after you click TICKETS. Enter the appropriate PROMO CODE, for example, 75PERCENT.
