Austell Summer Camp series

Camp Dates are listed below. Camp times: 8:00am-4:00pm (Aftercare offered 4:00pm-5:00pm)  Grades: rising 1st-3rd and 4th-6th Cost: Austell City Residents- $100               Non-Residents- $150 Week May 28 - 31: Environmental Camp - Campers will engage in creative hands-on science lessons that focus on skills such as observation, measurement, identification, and experimentation involving wildlife, the earth, and environmental science concepts. Campers will have fun exploring these concepts through games, performance, visual art and wildlife technique activities. Week June 3 - 7: STEM Water Camp - Campers will have an opportunity to explore concepts around the human impact on water quality in a hands-on engaging manner. Campers will design solutions to managing water flow, flooding and water pollution. Week June 10-14: Math Engineering Camp - Campers will learn beginning engineering concepts and have an opportunity to design and build a weight-bearing structure. Campers will learn age-appropriate math concepts like scale, geometry, adding, fractions, etc. Week June 17-21: Art Literacy Camp - Campers will have an opportunity to learn art techniques while developing comprehension skills through a sense of story. Campers will participate in engaging activities such as “stepping into the story” and Readers’ Theater to work on skills like visualizing, connecting and making predictions then develop art projects to complement their text. Week June 24-28: Theatre Literacy Camp - Campers will have an introduction to theater basics and dance while learning about the care of their bodies and maintaining personal health. Additional activities include team-building, managing stress, and building literacy skills through the art of acting. Week June 24-28: Energy Camp ** - Campers will have an opportunity to engage in extraordinary science demonstrations that makes electricity come alive. Campers engage in hands-on activities to learn about sources of energy and how energy is distributed to homes and businesses. Campers will explore an energy plant and help to design an energy efficient home **LOCATION of Energy Camp is Austell Elementary School
