Personal Finance Literacy Summer Camp Demo for College-Age Adults 6/20 10:30am-12:30am

Unless you live in AL, MO, TN, UT, or VA, chances are that your child will not receive any formal education on financial literacy in his or her lifetime as it is not mandatory in 45 of the 50 U.S. states. Unless a person majors in accounting, finance, business, or economics, personal finance is not a requirement to graduate college either. Parents spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars each year on summer camps, many of them for sports. Yet what percentage of the population will get an athletic scholarship or make a living being a professional athlete? The odds are not as bad as the lottery, but they’re not very good either. Yet nearly 100% of people will someday manage and make decisions about their own personal finances. The Personal Finance Summer Boot Camp for College-Age Adults is a comprehensive overview of money. Most parents (and people in general) have learned the hard way, mostly by trial and error, when it comes to making every day financial decisions, large purchases, investments, dealing with debt, long term planning, insurance, etc. as they did not have any formal training themselves. Most people, even the older generation, don’t understand some of the basic concepts of personal finance. Students graduate not knowing anything about money, except how to spend it. This is an excellent opportunity for them to gain the knowledge to learn this crucial life skill at an early age instead of when it’s too late and they’ve lost out on tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars (in the long run) by making uninformed decisions related to money. The boot camp is a fun interactive program where the students will work with each other while learning some key concepts related to personal finance.  NOTE THAT IT IS FOR COLLEGE WOULD-BE GRADUATION CLASSES OF 2019, 2020, 2021, AND 2022 ONLY (but you don't have to be enrolled in college to attend) Day 1 – Ben Franklin and the Dead Presidents (Demo) Introductions Show Me the Money Bills: What Things Cost & How People Spend Their Money Common Financial Jargon Interest and Compound Interest Inflation & Deflation Depreciation Break Even Return on Investment (ROI) FAQs Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
