Creative Arts Camp at Sky Village NYC!

This summer let's get creative at Sky Village NYC! Our week (Monday-Thursday) will be filled with process oriented art exploration (29th Street Art Camp, 9am to11am) followed by a variety of activities (11am-6pm) including Spanish language learning, cooking, drawing and Lego robotics.  Your child will also enjoy plenty of outdoor play and open ended creative play, including arts and crafts with one of our lovely and talented art instuctors at Sky Village NYC!  Space is limited to 10 children. Weeks of registration include: July 15 - 18 July 22 - 25 July 29 - August 1 August  5 - 8 August 12 - 15 This drop-off opportunity is designed for children 5 to 8 years old. Two adults will be present at all times for up to 10 children ONLY so please PRE-REGISTER to reserve your child's spot in class. 29thStreet Art Camp 9am-11am July 15-18 Collage Week $160/week We will spend the week looking the work of the artists Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg. The children will work to add layers and texture to individual canvases through the use of print, text, stencils, tempera, charcoal and ink. Each child will bring home a completed work on canvas at the end of the week. July 22-25 Shadow Boxes Week $160/week We will spend the week looking at the work of Louise Nevelson and Joseph Cornell. The children will complete two shadow boxes over the course of the week. A monochromatic, assembled object box in the style of Louise Nevillson and a found and collected object, collaged box in the style of Joseph Cornell. July 29- Aug 1 Self- Portrait Week $160/week The children will be introduced to Jean-Michel Basquiat‘s work through age appropriate images. They will work in individual canvases adding layers each day. We will overlay printed images of the children with layers of mixed media including oil sticks, tempera paint, oil pastels and chalk pastels and collage. The children will work to develop text and imagery that is meaningful to them. Each child will take home a completed canvas portrait at the end of the week. August 5-8 Printmaking Week $160/week The children will experiment with various methods of printmaking including; hammered nature prints, monoprints, texture prints and block printing. In addition to daily prints on paper, the each child will bring home a final print using the method or methods of their choice on a hanging muslin tapestry. August 12-15 Sculpture/ Painting Week $160/week We’ll explore the playful worlds of Jean Miró and Alexander Calder through their drawings, paintings and sculptures. The children will create 2D and 3D artworks in the styles of both artists. We’ll construct with wire, cardboard and wood and work with chalk pastels, oils sticks, sumi ink, tempera paint and liquid watercolor. Parents should provide a packed lunch and a water bottle. Snacks provided daily. Please NO NUTS.  Waivers will need to be signed at the time of drop-off!
