FAQs What happens at Be Loud Camp?Be Loud is a jam packed day of creative play, digital media production, and community building. Here is a typical day at Be Loud. We intentionally build opportunities for youth to not only learn specific digital tools, but also play and explore on their own. Every day will follow a general rule of thirds: ⅓ Tool Training ⅓ Open Creativity ⅓ Outdoor Fun Who are the instructors at Be Loud Camp? Our team is lead by Diana Turner and Alex Owens, two teachers at Bricolage Academy. Diana Turner is a elementary school teacher who has worked in several different schools in New Orleans as a teacher, coach, and intervention teacher. Alex Owens teaches the Innovator's Workshop, providing students the space and tools for kids to design, build, and make everything from stop motion animations to cardboard prototypes. At Bricolage, they launched BricoRadio, a student-run radio station that features the stories, music, and good work of the Bricolage community. Be Loud Studios is a product of that effort as we bring radio and digital media tools to learning communities across New Orleans. Is this camp associated with Bricolage Academy?Be Loud Studios is not affiliated with Bricolage and is a separate 501c3 organization. Our programming is open to any young person from any school and neighborhood who wants their voice heard. Where is Be Loud Camp located? This summer, we are very grateful to be partnering with NOLA Micro Schools in Broadmoor (2705 S Broad Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125). This site will not only provide a large, multi-purpose space to produce and play, but a new neighborhood to explore through our digital media projects. What should my child bring to camp?We only ask that your child brings a packed lunch (refrigerator is available) and comfortable clothes. We will be taking our production outside and will need to be prepared to move! What's the refund policy? We can offer full refunds up to two weeks before the start date of the camp that you registered for. We do not offer refunds within two weeks of the camp’s start date. Are there reduced rates available?Yes. We have a set amount of seats available for a reduced fee on your child’s school lunch status. Please contact [email protected] for more information and to register for a reduced rate. We will respond within one week of your email. Do you provide before or aftercare?Yes, we will be offering both before care and day care for an additional cosr. Beforecare will start at 800AM and will be $10/day. You must register your child for every day that before care will be required. We will offer after care from 330PM to 5PM for an additional cost ($10/day) per camper.
