Elementary Social Skills Summer Camp!

This summer, do you want your child to learn how to make and keep new friends? Would you like her to enhance her self-confidence? Would you like him to learn to handle conflicts peacefully? Discover her talents? Continue his academic progress? Combat social anxiety and fears? Our intensiveChildren’s Social Skills Summer Camp can help! Some children need a little help learning social skills! Our social skills groups provide a safe and relaxed environment for children to practice skills with peers, and receive immediate feedback and coaching. This camp will offer a unique blend of role-play, games, craft activities, books, videos, modeling, coaching, positive reinforcement, communication with parents, and “learning time” to practice social skills. Some of the skills we’ll be working on include:• Making and keeping friends• Conversational skills and reading social cues• Giving and accepting compliments• Reducing impulsivity• Using self-control• Handling anger & frustration• Dealing with embarrassment• Reacting to failure• Dealing with losing and being a good sport• Responding to teasing and bullying• Dealing with being left out• Conflict resolution• Staying out of fights• Problem-solving and negotiating• Accepting “no” and accepting consequences• Handling shyness and social anxiety• Improving self-esteem• Being honest• Improving organization Total cost of camp: $495 (w/ a $250 non-refundable fee to guarantee registration) An Extended Day option runs from noon - 4 PM and is available for an additional cost of $175. This opportunity allows campers to continue practicing their social skills through a variety of activities which are overseen by master’s level therapists. A parent-child camp consultation is required. This 30-minute appointment is an opportunity for you to express your concerns and goals with the camp leader and discuss strategies to achieve your goals, but during camp and at home.This consultation is $85 and is not included in the camp registration fees.  A camp registration form, HIPAA agreement, and medical background form are required for registration.  For registration please call our office at 919-467-7777 or email us at [email protected] You may also visit http://wynnsfamilypsychology.com/Portals/16/forms/social-skills-group-camp-registration.pdf to directly download these forms.  You may submit these forms by emailing info@wynnsfamilypsychology.  Following your submission, a member of our office staff will contact you to verify your information and confirm registration.   How can I contact the organizer with any questions? For any questions and scheduling your pre-camp consultation, please call 919-467-7777.  Registration forms and further information can be downloaded directly from our website:  www.wynnsfamilypsychology.com.  Will snacks be provided to my child? Yes, we will provide a snack and drink to campers each day.  If any food allergies are a concern, please speak with your camp leader. You may also send your preferred food and water with your child.   Will insurance pay for this camp? You will receive an itemized receipt at the end of the camp.  Most insurance plans reimburse at least a percentage of the cost for group therapy under the group therapy code 90853.  We can provide an insurance "cheat sheet" that guides you through your specific benefits.  Also, we accept Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Cards and Health Savings Account (HSA) Cards in our office.
