2019 Glen Rock Park Summer Playground Program

Hello Parent/Guardian, Welcome to the 2019 Glen Rock Playground Program! This summer we will be welcoming a new director. More details on the event will be made available as the planning is completed. Below are a reminder of our rules and safety procedures. Our event will run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the first 4 weeks of July. Each week will have a theme, as well as a word of the week. An event calendar will be made available and will  include any special events or particular items that your child may need for each day.  Children who have completed kindergarten thru 6th grade are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is required and open from June 1 - 24. Paper forms available at Hufnagel Library. Tickets are free to residents with a 17327 zip code, all others $15 per week per child. A $20 per child fee will be incurred to register a child after registration has closed on June 24 if there is available space. Unless otherwise marked, your child will only need to bring a labeled water bottle. Some mornings will get very hot, so everyone must stay hydrated. Please send your child to camp wearing sunscreen or a hat, since we will be spending most of our time out from under the pavilion. Nintendo DSs, IPods, cell phones (or other handheld devices) will not be permitted, as we will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. There will be two days where sandals will be permitted. Flip-flops are never allowed as they can be a hazard to your children and become extremely slippery on grass. Also, the counselors and I are not allowed to dispense medicine to your child, so all medications must be taken prior to the program or after. We are able to keep inhalers and Epi-pens if your child has these needs, so please label them and bring them directly to me in the morning. Students are to be dropped off at the park no earlier than 9:30 and picked up no later than 12. I have been flexible about this in the past, but it is very difficult to setup beforehand when children have already been dropped off without a guardian. Prompt pick-up is also required, so the counselors and I can clean up and prepare for the next day. Children will not be permitted to leave the park to walk home, unless they have been designated as a walker at registration. Also, if your child is being picked up by someone other than their immediate guardian or parents, I must be informed ahead of time with a note. No exceptions will be allowed. At checkout you will be prompted with several waivers including policies, disciplinary procedures, walkers and liability. Even though I do not feel there will be any problems, these policies will be strictly enforced. In the event of inclement weather, a sign will be posted at the pavilion saying that the program has been canceled. All crafts and special activities that are planned for that day will be moved to the next day. Also, if there is sudden, threatening thunder and/or lightening, your child needs to be picked up immediately.
