Afternoon Summer Craft Camp: Leather Working and Shibori Indigo Fabric Dyeing

Student's creativity will be in full blast at this camp! They'll start the week designing a simple leather project, like a small bag, wallet, or journal, and learning the skills they'll need to create it. The rest of the week will be split between completing their project and trying the art of shibori indigo dyeing. At the end of the week, students will have at least 1 completed leather and 1 completed indigo dyed piece to take home. Indigo is one of the oldest dyes to be used on fabric. Shibori is a set of resist dyeing techniques for fabric developed over centuries in Japan. The word comes from the root verb shiboru which means “to wring, squeeze, press.” For ages 10 through adult From 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. A light snack will be provided.
