FAQs What is Moonlighter Makerspace? Moonlighter is a membership based-digital fabrication lab, creative co-working space, and STEAM learning center in the Wynwood Arts District. It features a range of digital fabrication equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, sewing machines, circuits and more to help people of all ages build (almost anything) they can imagine. Moonlighter has won multiple awards for their unique approach to innovation and education. Their programs have reached over 3,500 students, over 15 schools, and has partnered with wonderful local institutions like the Frost Science Museum, The Bass Museum, The Wolfsonian Museum, ArtCenter South Florida, The Bakehouse Art Complex, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Miami Dade College, Mano Americas, The Downtown Development Authority, and more. They have been featured on NBC6, The Miami Herald, Metropolis Magazine, The New Tropic, The New Times, and Telemundo, and had been invited to the White House for the initial Nation of Makers Conference in 2016, organizing maker spaces from across the country to help their communities learn and build the innovations that drive our future. Our programs are highly rated and you can learn more about our previous camps here. What are the camp hours? The camps run Monday through Friday (Excluding Independence Day Holiday) 9am-3pm. Earliest drop off time is 8:30am. An optional late pickup fee of $50 per week (or $10/day) can be added for activities from 3pm-6pm.  What ages are allowed to participate in the camp? Kids from 7-12 are all welcome to join, certain exceptions can be made if contacted in advance. Who will be leading the camp? Tom Pupo and Daisy Nodal are the Co-Founders of Moonlighter Makerspace. After earning their Masters of Architecture from Florida International University, they taught at the SOA Design Studio for two years before opening Moonlighter. They now create one-of-a-kind STEAM educational experiences via workshops, camps, field trips and events, where they introduce all ages to the latest technologies available. Other successful educational programs they produce include Miami Dade College Continuing Education Summer Program and Maker Camp at Doral Conservatory of the Arts and Spring Camp STEAM Sessions at the BASS Museum. As strong advocates of the Maker Movement, they believe that hands-on learning is not only the most effective, but the most inspiring in the development of a child. The making of a thing is the evidence of the lesson learned. Jon Cruz and Victoria Gonzalez will be Assistant Instructors, along with our robust team of interns.
