Spring Break Kid's Camp! Design Your Stuffy! - Austin, TX

Design Your Own Stuffy! LEARN TO SEW!! Class will take place over 3 separate days; 3 hours each class. Kids will learn the basics of machine sewing, including: threading the machine, sewing a seam allowance and sewing from a pattern. Sew samples to put in your "Seams and Stitches" workbook, which will be yours to keep and use as a reference guide at home. After completing the workbook, you'll make a Fold-over Tote Bag, Patchwork Pillow (with optional pom-poms), and Design Your Own Stuffy Friend (fill with Poly-stuffing OR rice to heat in the microwave). MATERIALS fee of $5 (included in price) covers all materials & supplies needed. Machines are available to rent for $5 for the entire time during class. Bring your own machine and -- if you have it -- a sewing kit with basic supplies to your first class. E-mail questions to Amy: [email protected]! Some of the fun things we'll be doing: -Make a Seams and Stitches Workbook (worked on in every class) - Fold Over Tote - Make Pom Poms (cannot get enough Pom Poms!!) - Sew Patchwork Pillow and sew on Pom Poms - Design Your Own Stuffy! - Hand-Stitching! (worked on in every class!) It is designed to accommodate up to 5 students. It's a great for absolute beginners! No experience required! Seriously.  Ages 8 12 welcome! This class will be taught by Amy Jane Gennrich of www.craft-joy.com Sewing machines can be rented for $5 for the course. It is recommended that you bring a machine if you own one so that you may learn to sew on the machine that you'll be using the most. SUPPLIES (*items can be purchased at The Cloth Pocket for 10% off): -Sewing Machine (one can be rented for $5) -Water/snack -*1-2 spools of thread (any color is good!) All other supplies are provided by the instructor!
