Calling all little yogis and chefs! Viva la Yoga + NourishME! cooking are coming together to host a fun-filled summer camp program combining the magic of yoga and the satisfaction of a healthy and delicious meal for three hours a day, Monday-Thursday. If your yogi/chef participated in week one the prior week, we'll have new recipes and yoga activities to try during week two! Here's what we have planned: Yoga teaches us to find peace, wellbeing, and kindness for ourselves and others. We’ll explore these ideas through breathing exercises, yoga poses, games, music, and art projects. Each day, we’ll focus on a theme like peace, nature, animals or friendship and use these ideas to inspire our day. By the end of the week, campers will have learned about deep breathing and how to use these exercises at home or at school to calm down. They’ll have a knowledge of yoga poses, how they stretch different muscles, and how to move safely in their bodies. Through yoga games they’ll explore what it means to be a leader and teammate. Finally, by connecting these themes with art projects campers learn how creativity invites self-expression and reflection. Above all, we have a ton of fun, make new friends, and learn something new each day. NourishME! cooking utilizes the Healthy Hands Cooking Program to lay the foundation for healthful eating and kitchen confidence in a fun and hands-on format. Your child will become familiar with common culinary terms, basic kitchen and knife safety (with child-safe knives), creating a balanced plate, and learning how to be more self-sufficient in the kitchen. Children will work in groups and/or individually to create a wholesome and super tasty snack and lunch recipe. A portion of each class is dedicated to a fun nutrition activity. The remaining time is dedicated to cooking and a quick cleanup. All fruits, veggies and dairy are organic whenever possible.
