Survivors Supporting Survivors ~ Teen Support Group - Boise, ID

Survivors Supporting Survivors Teen Support Group The Art of Fencing When: Monday, April 17th, 2017 Time: 6:00PM-8:00PM Where: Boise Fencing Club (6149 Corporal Ln, Boise, ID 83704) Who: Young adults between the ages of 13-18yrs who has been diagnosed with cancer. Your children do NOT need to have participated in camp or our Survivors Supporting Survivors support group to attend Cost: FREE Our group will be gathering this month with one goal in mind. To be on Guard! We will square off across from each other with conversations about high level problem solving and maintaining cool heads in the heat of stress. We like to think of fencing as a type of dance, because we use the same sort of skill set – understanding mindfulness, timing, tempo, ego, alertness, and adaptability. Likewise, in the dance of fencing, our teens will develop a sense of body awareness. This body awareness is something that transcends beyond fencing – it’s a huge part of healthy living! Fencing is obviously a very physical sport, but what most people don’t know is that there is a whole other mental layer that goes with it. It’s like a game of physical chess: Every move by the opponent spurs a reaction and response. The key is learning to think strategically in the moment. Fencing will teach your kids to think on their feet – a valuable skill that will stay with them all through their lives, helping them academically, socially, and in the workplace. All attendees must RSVP 208.350.6435 or [email protected]
