Youth Climate Action Camp w/ Our Children's Trust - Ashland, OR

Our Children's Trust, Rogue Climate, the Geos Institute, and Trail Treckers are coming together to host a one day training for youth and their parents on how to become effective advocates for a stable climate. Elementary through high school students from around the Rogue Valley are welcome! Suggested ages are 9-18. Bring a sack lunch, and we will provide snacks! The YouCAN (Youth Climate Action Now) program trains and supports youth to engage in civic participation with local government, advocating for lasting legal protection for the atmosphere in the form of science- based emission reduction targets and climate recovery planning. Our Childrens Trust and the YouCAN program were instrumental in helping the City of Eugene become the first city in the country to pass a climate recovery ordianance! AT THE TRAINING, YOUTH WILL: ++ Learn to be effective advocates for a stable climate ++ Learn how students in Eugene helped pass the countries first climate recovery ordinance ++ Meet other youth passionate about taking action on climate change ++ Learn about the basics of climate change ++ Practice talking to elected officials like city council members ++ Have fun, make friends, take action!
